| Pearl Loves Pop-up Art
Monday, 11 July 2011 Drinks reception from 7:30 p.m.
Pearl loves to be at the forefront of new ideas and ways of doing things and when she was approached to host a pop-up shop she knew exactly who she wanted to invite and bring to the event. Pearl is a woman of taste and influence and she is bringing these qualities to the Cross Scythes Pub in Totley when she hosts a pop up gallery. High on her list of invitees was Sarah Sharpe, who brings a delicate and intricate style to the event, her works are highly detailed; the etching process takes many hours and follows an old art form. This brings more depth to her work allowing the stories to develop within the images. She will be bringing some of her etching plates on the night to allow people a chance to see parts of the process and get an understanding of how this art form works.
Pearl was also keen to see The Old Sweet Shop, a regular on the Nether Edge scene, being brought to S17, the shop provides a space for a wide variety of art works from modern graffiti style comic books, to folk style jewellery, through to handmade note books and printed t-shirts. It’s an eclectic mix which is brought together beautifully by Emma, who has an eye and a passion to support and promote new, developing and established artists and crafts men and women.
Pearl also wanted to bring something of her self to the event. So who is Pearl? I wouldn’t ask that too loudly near her! Pearl is the enchanting, witty and influential star of the Painted World of Wildago. In this magical realm you’ll find a series of colourful characters who beguile and delight. Edmund who still hasn’t met Pearl, is the quiet but charismatic co-star and loyal companion to nosy newshound, Todd the dog (author of Todd-the-dog’s Blog).
On the 11th of July Pearl will be hard to miss, her outfit long since booked and her position at the bar secured!
Come and meet the artists, view their works and enjoy the atmosphere as we enjoy a fun pop-up gallery for one night only at the Cross Scythes, Totley.
