PRESS RELEASE

Pearl’s Night Out
(She's painting the town red.)

Upstairs at The Rutland Arms
Thursday, 9 February 2012, 6.00 pm onwards

Canadian artist Wilda Goyetche (‘Wildago’ for short) is staging Pearl’s Night Out, her latest pop-up party, at the Rutland Arms in Sheffield’s Cultural Quarter. A party with a distinctly red flavour...

Everyone is warmly invited to don something red and come along to what promises to be quite a night. As well as the usual fun and frolics we’ve come to expect from one of Wildago’s events, there’ll be games, quizzes, prizes for the best red outfits, and even forfeits for anyone caught not wearing at least one item of red clothing!

Pearl’s Night Out coincides with an exhibition of Wilda’s work that is currently on at the Rutland Arms. “Redhead at the Rutty” is devoted solely to the many faces of Pearl, the flame-haired bombshell that is one of the stars of The Painted World of Wildago, a collection of lovable characters created by the artist. Wilda decided a party was a great opportunity to take the red theme one step further: “February tends to be a rather cold, drab month. I thought giving people an excuse to dress up a little and literally paint the town red would be the perfect way to banish those winter blues!”

On a more serious note, February is also National Heart Month, and Wilda will be using Pearl’s Night Out to help raise awareness of the work of the British Heart Foundation. “I know from my own experience as a fitness trainer that relatively small lifestyle adjustments can have a huge impact your overall health,” she explains. “Valentine’s Day is just around the corner- so there’s no better time to get your heart in good shape!”
